Education & Professional Highlights

Certified nurse midwife, Miriam Alvarez, grew up in Yuma and graduated from Cibola High School. She has dedicated her nursing career to helping Yuma-area women enhance their reproductive health and the birthing experience. After earning her associates degree in nursing, she began working in Yuma Regional Medical Center’s Labor and Delivery department as a registered nurse. Miriam completed her BSN degree at Grand Canyon University before continuing her education at the Frontier School of Midwifery. There she qualified to become a nurse midwife by earning a Master of Science in Nursing and completing the Nurse Midwifery Certification program.

When she is not taking care of patients, Miriam enjoys spending time with her family, especially participating in her kids’ 4H activities. She also enjoys painting, going to the river and off-roading with ATVs.
